Louisiana State University is taking offers from contractors to grow and process weed for the state’s medical marijuana program.

LSU professor Dr. Ted Gauthier told WBRZ-TV that lots of people from out of state have shown a great deal of interest in doing the honors. He added that they expect to have about 10 finalists to choose from.

“We’re looking for somebody who will be able to provide the quality product for the patients in Louisiana who will be using the medical marijuana product,” said Gautheir, a researcher at LSU’s AgCenter Biotechnology Laboratory.

Louisiana’s medical marijuana bill was officially signed into law back in May 2016, making it the 25th state to legalize some type of MMJ program, although no one was allowed to grow or process cannabis until now.

And the word “officially” is important because Louisiana actually legalized medical marijuana in 1978, being the first U.S. state in the union to do so.

A couple weeks ago, on 1/25/17, after Flo had her appointment at the VA Hospital up on Marquam Hill in Portland, she drove to Hillsboro while I walked down the hill toward town to start my dispensary adventures. A new look at some old research covering the medicinal effects of the cannabis plant shows that certain components of the herb could be a saving grace for those suffering from the grips of opioid addiction.

Alaska has grappled with the concept of onsite smoking for nearly two years. The Alaska Marijuana Control board narrowly voted 3-2 on Thursday to prevent allowing the consumption of cannabis inside retail stores. Alaska would have been the first state in the nation to allow consumers to immediately smoke the cannabis that they purchase at the store.

Only board members Nicholas Miller of Anchorage and Brandon Emmett of Fairbanks voted to keep on-site smoking alive in Alaska. Designated areas would have been implemented inside cannabis stores. Do you still need a carbon filter exhaust and a fresh air intake when housing a mother-plant in a tent? I didn’t think so because a carbon filter is an odor eliminator.
