The Detroit City Council, and their sub-Commissions, have been moving with great speed to limit the number of medical marijuana distribution centers in the Motor City.

In one week the city’s Licensing Board met and voted to approve their portion of the new ordinance, then the full Council approved their recommendations, then the Zoning Commission took input from citizens, heard an introduction from Councilman James Tate and interviewed the representatives of the city legal department. The debate is serious, the consequences dire, and the issue is pressing.

At stake: the fate of the city’s estimated 150 medical marijuana distribution centers.

It appears the CIA Director’s personal email account was so insecure a self proclaimed stoner was able to hack it with ease. The New York Post reported October 18th that a group calling themselves CWA, or “Crackas With Attitude”, were apparently able to hack Director John Brennan’s bank account information, as well.

This was done by “social engineering” which involves tricking AOL and Verizon to reset his email password. This allowed them access to, among other things, his contact list and many private emails, some concerning matters in Iraq and Syria.

The information was shared through social media on the groups Twitter account, @phphax. A group of Pennsylvania religious leaders will announce their support for medical marijuana legislation Wednesday at a news conference at 11 a.m. ET on the Lt. Governor’s Balcony in the Pennsylvania State Capitol. They will then visit with lawmakers to convey their support in person.

Yesterday, a federal judge lifted an injunction against one of California’s oldest medical marijuana dispensaries. The injunction can no longer be enforced in the wake of a congressional spending amendment passed by Congress last year—the Rohrabacher-Farr Amendment—that precluded the Department of Justice from spending funds on prosecuting dispensaries in compliance with state law. Setting significant legal precedent, Senior Judge Charles R. Breyer of the U.S. District Court for Northern California ruled that as long as the Rohrabacher-Farr Amendment is in effect, the injunction against and the prosecution of Marin Alliance for Medical Marijuana and its founder Lynette Shaw may only be enforced if they are in violation of California state law.

Led by Justin Trudeau, Canada’s Liberal Party swept to a strong victory in Monday’s elections.

While results were still being tallied Monday night, it looks as if the party has won enough seats to form a majority government by itself. The UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) appeared set to call on governments to end the criminalization of drug use and possession, according to DPA Honorary Board Member Richard Branson – but in a dramatic turn of events withdrew a briefing paper under pressure from at least one country, according to the BBC.

The Pennsylvania Medical Society’s official position is that it opposes the use of medical marijuana in any form, for any reason.
