Practicing for when Trump’s wall goes up between Mexico and the United States? It looks like the catapult kids are back in action again, or at least trying.

This past week, our busy U.S. border agents in Arizona spotted a group of presumably “bad hombres” scurrying around, on their side of the fence, so they investigated.

To their surprise, they discovered a giant catapult contraption attached to the top of the border fence near the Douglas Port of Entry, which is about two hours southeast of Tucson, according to a statement released by the Customs and Border Protection.

The officers went on to search the area and found two bundles of weed, presumably all wrapped and ready to be propelled to freedom.

U.S. border officials dismantled the pot-slinging catapult, and Mexican authorities hauled it away. The Americans kept the 47 pounds of weed.

Judging from photos, the catapult appeared to be made from square tubing and a heavy spring welded together, with rope tied around parts of it.

A similar contraption was discovered in 2011 near Arizona when National Guard troops spotted the smugglers shooting weed over the border.

On the same level of zaniness as catapulting weed through the air is Trump’s executive order, which we knew was coming, instructing Homeland Security “to immediately plan, design, and construct a physical wall along the southern border,” to prevent the entry of “unlawful aliens, instruments of terrorism, narcotics, and other contraband.”

One of the first things about OranguTANG that jumps out at me are the thick, orange/red stigmas covering the bright green nugs. The bud structure on the bottom part of the nug is somewhat loose and leafy, while the crown of the nug is dense and chunky (the crown is similar to many batches of Gorilla Glue I’ve come across). The nugs sparkle in the light thanks to a dense coating of healthy trichomes.

SMELL (4.5 out of 5)

Opening a jar of OranguTANG releases a mouthwatering swirl of sweet citrus aromas – like sugarcoated orange peels. The smell brings back childhood memories of Fruit Stripe gum, simply delicious.

Advocates Push for a 2017 Texas Medical Marijuana Bill in Austin

Advocates push for a 2017 Texas medical marijuana bill during a Constituent Advocacy Day that brought a few hundred cannabis supporters to the state capitol, in Austin.

The effort to galvanize support for cannabis in the southern state was organized by a coalition of groups including chapters of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), and Marijuana Policy Project (MPP) under the umbrella of Texans for Responsible Marijuana Policy.

The Texas Cannabis Report says the event was the first real push for marijuana reform in the new year. There was a glimmer of hope back in 2015, when two bills passed out of committee, but they were never heard by the full House of Representatives.

Advocates for marijuana in the Lone Star State say the best bet for a 2017 Texas medical marijuana bill is SB 269, filed by Senator José Menéndez, a Democrat from San Antonio. Former NBA player Stephen Jackson used marijuana before hitting the court throughout his career, and at least one of his coaches was well aware.

The admission came during an appearance on the I Am Rapaport podcast.

“We’re in Utah and the drug test people are around, you know, to get our last drug test, so we can smoke, right? And Don Nelson, we talked about weed all the time, he was cool with talking about weed. We got our last test in Utah, right? So me and [teammate]Baron [Davis] are coming out the locker room just screaming, excited, right, with our last pink slip saying we could smoke for the rest of the season. In his signing flurry of the past several weeks, Trump penned three executive orders aimed at targeting drug cartels, reducing crime and and generally getting rid of those “bad hombres” south of the border.

In his characteristic use of repetitive adverbs and adjectives in lieu of intellectual substance, Trump reiterated just why his record number of executive orders are essential, so very essential—especially these three.

“I’m signing three executive actions today designed to restore safety in America,” he said. “Very important. All very important.”

In his first act as head of the Department of Justice, Attorney General Jeff Sessions presented the three executive orders to Trump, using similar verbal flourishes to describe how rising crime is a “dangerous, permanent trend” in the U.S. and how he promises to “end this lawlessness” of illegal immigration.

Colorado Warms to Pot Clubs, Despite Federal Uncertainty

ENVER (AP) — At risk of raising the ire of the White House, Colorado is on the brink of becoming the first state with licensed pot clubs. But the details of how these clubs will operate are as hazy as the underground clubs operating already.

Denver officials are working on regulations to open a one-year pilot of bring-your-own marijuana clubs, while state lawmakers are expected to consider measures to allow either marijuana “tasting rooms” run by marijuana dispensaries, or smoke-friendly clubs akin to cigar bars.

Alaska regulators, spooked by how the Trump administration might view marijuana, recently decided not to move forward with rules for use of marijuana at authorized stores, though the issue there isn’t dead.

California and Maine voters expressly signed off on public marijuana consumption, but haven’t settled on rules. That means Colorado may be first out of the gate with statewide pot-club regulations, possibly by this summer.

Colorado officials from both parties have come around to the idea of Amsterdam-style pot clubs for a simple reason: Everyone is tired of seeing pot smokers on public sidewalks.

“It’s a problem we’ve got to address,” said state Sen. Chris Holbert, a suburban Denver Republican who opposed marijuana legalization but doesn’t like seeing its use on the sidewalk, either.

Pointing jokingly to his suit and tie, the gray-haired Holbert said he’s even had panhandlers ask him for marijuana near the state Capitol.

“I mean, look at me. If I’m getting hassled, everyone’s getting hassled,” Holbert told reporters.

Cannabis Caucus Formed to Help with Legislation

Lawmakers form committees and groups for all kinds of issues—like the environment, health care and now, cannabis.

Representative Earl Blumenauer (D-Oregon), one of the founding members of the caucus, supports the bipartisan approach that Congress is taking with cannabis.

“This is happening all across the country, and its going to continue,” said Blumenauer, an advocate for legalized cannabis since the 1970s. “The industry is growing, as is public acceptance and demand for medical marijuana.”

Blumenauer is joined by Dana Rohrabacher (D-California), Jared Polis (C-Colorado) and Don Young (R-Alaska). Not surprisingly, all four represent states that have legalized recreational cannabis.

The cannabis industry earned $6.7 billion in legal sales last year in the U.S. With eight new states passing cannabis initiatives last November, that figure is sure to increase dramatically. Especially with California, the most populated state in the Union, voting to allow recreational cannabis.

Cannabis Businesses in Jamaica One Step Closer to Being Licensed

Conditional approval has been given for permits to three applicants for cannabis cultivation and processing in Jamaica. The Cannabis Licensing Authority (CLA) sent out a news release on February 14, according to the Jamaica Gleaner, which shared that the applicants are one step closer to obtaining an official license to begin cultivating and processing cannabis.

According to Scientist Dr. Henry Lowe in Jamaica, “ . . . everyone was told, come December 31st, licenses would be issued.” Dr. Lowe explained that many people were concerned about the delay. They didn’t to fall behind other countries like the United States and Germany in rolling out its regulatory framework for cannabis businesses.

Colorado Schools Receive Cannabis Tax Grants to Fund Bully Prevention Program

Colorado’s surplus cannabis tax revenue is effectively being utilized for a noble cause. Many communities, including Colorado, have taken measures to abate America’s culture of bullying in the age of social networks. 73 schools in 14 school districts across Colorado were awarded cannabis tax grants ranging from $40,000 to $120,000.

The money is available thanks to Colorado’s Proposition BB, which allows the state to retain surplus tax revenues from cannabis sales. Schools that are awarded the grants will receive specialized anti-bullying training. The schools will form a bullying prevention committee that compels teachers, staff and parents to get involved as well.

The program is currently being put to the test. Washington Authorities Shut Down Delinquent Pot Company, Burn 2,000 Plants

Nobody really likes paying taxes, and so some of us don’t. But we’ve never heard of a tax delinquent’s house burned down by a militant IRS in retribution.

Frontier justice isn’t exactly what happened to Nine Point Growth Industries, the second recreational marijuana company in Washington to receive a state license—though authorities putting the tax-owing company out of business by storming the company’s grow house, seizing 2,000 plants and clones and destroying them in a scene reminiscent of the American opium wars a century ago is awfully close.
