As Michigan waits for answers to medical cannabis regulatory issues, one town has adopted a resolution to step forward with allowing cannabis production in the city.The Arian City Commission adopted a resolution March 20th to consider ordinances regarding medical cannabis facilities.

 

Late last year, Governor Rick Snyder signed into law three bills that address the lack of regulatory infrastructure or basic protections as communities and law enforcement struggled with the growing number of medical cannabis businesses.

 

At the meeting, Mayor Jim Berryman admitted that he seemed hesitant to allow medical cannabis when the state is still going through drastic changes to its current medical cannabis laws. “What I tried to tell [attendees] at the meeting was this discussion is not about the pros and cons of the use of medical marijuana. Social consumption of cannabis is a topic that is continually talked about in both marijuana industry and policy and an issue the Alaska Marijuana Control Board has been tasked with. Both Portland and Denver are working hard to pioneer this space, but neither of these cities has gotten to a space where a program is fully rolled out.

Project 22 is a joint collaboration from The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) with state chapters from Missouri and Colorado.

Gov. Jim Justice is expected to sign SB 386 into law, making West Virginia the 29th state to adopt an effective medical marijuana law

 

CHARLESTON, W. Va. — A medical marijuana bill received final approval in the West Virginia Legislature on Thursday and is headed to the desk of Gov. Jim Justice. He has publicly expressed support for legal access to medical marijuana and is expected to sign the bill into law, making West Virginia the 29th state to adopt an effective medical marijuana law.

Tens of millions of US citizens recently found themselves waking up one morning with the full legal right to grow cannabis at home. Recently, a couple of Denver businesses, including a city adviser on sustainability and an energy engineer joined a Denver Sustainability Panel to talk about how the cannabis industry can find their best practices when it comes to using energy, water, and waste.

 

Cannabis greenhouses and retail shops usually use use of 24-hour lighting, heating, ventilation systems, and air-conditioning, which often lead to expensive and environmentally irresponsible outputs.

 

The panel of cannabis and non-cannabis professionals included Amy Andrle, an owner of L’Eagle cannabis farm and dispensary; Emily Backus, the Sustainability Adviser for the City of Denver; Doug Hargrave, of iconergy; and Ben Gelt, of the Organic Cannabis Association.

Cannabis Business PermitsOn March 22, the city of Sacramento began offering applications for commercial cannabis permits, following a decision by the city council earlier this month to lift the ban on cultivation and approve the framework, rules and regulations for the program. The process has begun earlier than expected, but has been estimated to last for several months to finalize approval for eligible applicants.

 

The city of Sacramento is supporting commercial cannabis in an effort to raise $6.3 million from cannabis business revenue, in order to aid in the improvement of the city’s regulatory efforts toward legal cannabis. Legalizing cannabis for medical use has the potential to curb the tide of abuse, dependence and overdoses of opioid painkillers in the United States.

 

A new report published in the journal “Drug and Alcohol Dependence” shows that hospital treatment for opiate addiction and overdoses has fallen in states that have legalized medical cannabis.

Powdery mildew is one of many pests that can gravely affect marijuana plants. It is also called white powdery mildew, and it spreads and grows from a number of different types of fungi. Its name says it all: powdery mildew looks white or gray in color. It is visible as powdery growths on a marijuana plant’s leaves.

The Gateway Show is a comedy show based in Seattle and began a few years ago. I had not heard about this comedy show until recently, and got to attend my first (of what I hope will be many) a few months ago and laughed so hard I cried!
