The episode was taped in 2014 and has been aired previously through the show’s syndication network. The show is recorded in an Oakland County studio and features a live audience.

Woody Harrelson has been a long time support of reform. He has participated in Seattle Hempfest, and was even arrested for trying to very publicly plant hemp seeds. He’s a freedom fighter in every way. I have always been a Woody Harrelson fan, even before I was an activist. The actor and marijuana advocate was one of almost 60 applicants vying to open up one of Honolulu County’s first medical dispensaries. He’d open under his company name, Simple Organic Living, according to a state Department of Health statement.

The state will review applications and award them to eight applicants in April, about a year after the Hawaii Legislature passed a bill allowing dispensaries to open. Medical marijuana has been legal in the state for more than 15 years, but there had never been a way for patients to obtain it legally.

If selected, the “Cheers” and “Hunger Games” star will be able to open two production centers and two dispensaries, according to The Associated Press.

A group of seriously ill patients and their family members will hold a press conference and rally Monday in support of ending the wait for legal access to medical cannabis. Since early November, patients and their caregivers have spent their days in the Capitol rotunda in the “Still Waiting Room,” a simulated doctor’s office, as a way to bring attention to legislative delays. The press conference will take place adjacent to the waiting room at 2:30 p.m., followed by patients deconstructing the room to express their frustration with lawmakers. I have never been to the Emerald Cup before. I know, I know. It’s definitely something that I don’t have a good excuse for. I get asked all the time for advice and tips on how to start a marijuana business. Most of the time people want to bounce ideas off of me that involve growing and/or selling marijuana. Sometimes it will involve an ancillary industry idea, but for the most part the people that I talk to want to pursue a business idea that involves ‘touching the plant’ as a lot of people in the industry say these days. People dedicate a ton of time designing their garden, dialing in their ‘grow recipe’ to maximize their yields, but don’t dedicate nearly as much time researching 280E. It’s understandable – tax code is not a sexy thing. To most people, it’s about the least desirable part of being in the industry. However, it’s extremely important, which I’m sure a lot of people are learning for the first time as they prepare their taxes for their business.

A bill sponsored by Rep. Peter Lucido looks to expand government by creating another Commission, this time one which would establish a THC nanogram limit for drivers on Michigan’s roadways.

Rep. Lucido’s bill will be heard in Committee on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at noon in the House Judiciary Committee. The bill’s purpose, per the language of HB 5024, is:

The commission shall research and recommend a scientifically supported threshold of THC bodily content to provide evidence for per se impaired driving in this state. The commission shall exist until it submits the final report to the governor, senate majority leader, and speaker of the house of representatives required under section 4.

The bill was introduced in late October of 2015. Rep. Lucido has no co-sponsors for this legislation.

New York's medical marijuana program—AKA the Compassionate Care Act—which was feebly launched at the beginning of the year, not only comes with a chastity belt full of provisions that cater to only the half-dead, but the tight regulations wrapped up in this fiasco have put cannabis products mostly out of reach for the few patients who qualify for participation.

However, Manhattan Assemblyman Richard Gottfried, the lawmaker who was instrumental in the fight to bring medical marijuana to the state of New York, says he will introduce several pieces of legislation in the next coming weeks that he hopes will lead to a broad expansion to the program.

A recent article in the Village Voice indicates that Gottfried plans to submit a bill that will increase the number of cannabis producers permitted to operate across the state from five to somewhere in the vicinity of 10. The proposal would simplify the licensing process, evading a long drawn out approval period, by drawing the next selection of pot companies from the list of applicants that did not make the initial cut in 2015.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — An emergency bill to fix a legislative drafting error that had local governments in California racing to ban medical marijuana cultivation won Gov. Jerry Brown’s signature on Wednesday.

The legislation, AB21, by Democratic Assemblyman Jim Wood of Healdsburg amends the comprehensive medical marijuana regulations the California Legislature passed in September to eliminate a paragraph giving the state alone authority to license pot growers in jurisdictions that did not have laws on the books by March 1 specifically allowing or outlawing cultivation.

Fearful of losing their power to set policy to the state, dozens of cities chose to ban all commercial pot-growing within their borders during the last three months. Some also prohibited authorized medical marijuana users from growing their own pot. Dozens more were scheduled to consider the issue in the next few weeks.

The deadline made it into the final regulations approved in the closing hours of the last legislative session by mistake, Wood said. TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- Three of New Jersey's five medical marijuana dispensaries have had their business pages shutdown by Facebook, cutting off what advocates call an integral place for customers to learn about which plant strains best treat their illness and where to find discounts.

Compassionate Sciences in Bellmawr, Garden State in Woodbridge, and Breakwater Treatment and Wellness in Cranbury had their pages shut down this week.

Facebook's advertising policy bans promotion of selling drugs - as well as tobacco and guns - and the medical marijuana pages weren't spared even though they have been legally allowed to operate in New Jersey since 2011.

The shutdowns reflect similar measures taken by the social media giant in other parts of the country. On Wednesday, a group of 21 US senators and representatives sent a letter to the Department of Veterans Affairs calling on it to allow VA doctors to discuss and recommend marijuana as medicine in states where it is legal.

The bipartisan effort was led by Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Steve Daines (R-MT), and Jeff Merkley (D-OR) and Reps. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), Dina Titus (D-NY), and Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA). All represent medical marijuana states.

Under current VA policy, embodied in VHA Directive 2011-004, which expires Sunday, VA doctors are prohibited recommending marijuana as a treatment option even in legal states. This discourages patients and doctors from being honest with each other.

“According to the current directive, VA providers are prohibited from completing forms seeking recommendations or opinions regarding a veteran’s participation in a state-sanctioned marijuana program. This policy disincentivizes doctors and patients from being honest with each other,” the solons wrote. “Congress has taken initial steps to alleviate this conflict in law and we will continue to work toward this goal. According to data just released by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, New York City marijuana arrests in 2015 dropped to under 17,000 for the first time since 1996.
